Skate Legend Danny Way Announces Attempt to Break another World Record

LAS VEGAS- On April 6th, skating legend and Olympic gold medalist Danny Way announced that he will attempt to break another world record for the “Bomb Drop,” or “Highest Drop on a Skateboard.”Way will drop from the giant neon guitar on top of the Hard Rock Casino and Hotel. Way previously had made the Guiness Book of World Records when he became the first person to jump the Great Wall of China on a skateboard in 2005. The Hardrock Casino event is free and will be held in the hotel parking lot from 6-8.

The “Bomb Drop” is when a skater drops from a structure, free falling onto a landing. The current world record for the bomb drop is held by Norweigan Adil Dyani. Way will attempt to nearly double his record. Guiness World Records will be attendance to record the distance of his drop.

• Height of Guitar/total drop: 66’/20m; Likely freefall 20-30’/6-10m;
• Width of landing ramp 24’/7.27m; Flat bottom 64’/19.4m;
• Height of quarterpipe 27’/8.2m; Width of quarterpipe 48’/14.54m.
• Entry speed into top of ramp: 30mph/48kmh; Exit speed c45mph/72kmh.
• Current record 12’ 3.6”

Also making apperances on the giant vert ramp, constructed by John Tyson and VP Industries are pros Bob Burnquist, Pierre Luc Gagnon, Colin McKay, and Jake Brown. They will be riding the previous day, April 5th.
